Restore a database

המאמר עדיין לא תורגם; הוא מוצג באנגלית.

Open the project's Backups tab, pick a snapshot (a verified one if you can) and choose Restore.

Where to restore

  • Into a new database (recommended): paste the connection string of an empty PostgreSQL database. It is used for this restore only: it is kept encrypted for at most one hour and never saved.
  • Into the source database: replaces the data in the database the snapshot came from. You must type the project name and enter a fresh 2FA code. Restore into a new database first if you are not sure.
  • Download: a link valid for one hour to the encrypted snapshot, or, with 2FA, a one-time decrypted export you can load yourself.

MySQL snapshots can be downloaded; restoring them for you is not available yet.

What happens

A full restore runs pg_restore with --clean --if-exists into the target. The restore page shows each step, the exit codes and the last lines of the tool's output with passwords removed. You get an alert if it fails; see Restore failed.

Only part of the data needed? Restore a table instead. If something is broken right now, read What to do first.
